Events organized by Karabağlar Municipality as part of the 58th Library Week, held from March 28 to April 3, 2022, concluded with the panel “Archives and Truths.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahattin Yalçınkaya, a faculty member in the Department of Information and Records Management at Marmara University; Dr. Levent Kutlutürk, a faculty member in the Department of Information and Records Management at İzmir Katip Çelebi University; and Hatice Gümüş, Archive Director of Karabağlar Municipality, shared their knowledge and experience with participants.
During the panel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahattin Yalçınkaya, Dr. Levent Kutlutürk, and Hatice Gümüş provided detailed information on the history of archiving and contemporary technologies. Gümüş emphasized that digital archiving efforts at Karabağlar Municipality are progressing rapidly. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yalçınkaya and Dr. Kutlutürk thanked Mayor Selvitopu for the importance he attaches to the issue.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yalçınkaya stressed that all municipalities should take a special interest in the issue, saying, “I hope we can raise an enlightened generation with a culture of reading and the ability to preserve information and records in their original form.”
