THE WOMEN’S LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE FOUNDATION IS OPENING A SELECTION FROM ITS ARCHIVES AND COLLECTIONS ONLINE WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF SWEDEN IN ISTANBUL…
As Turkey’s only women-centered archive and library, the Women’s Library and Information Centre Foundation has been collecting sources on women’s history since its establishment in 1990. The Foundation produces new publications from these sources; preserves, organizes, provides access to, and passes on to future generations the documents and works in its archives and collections; supports research in various fields and disciplines, particularly women’s history; and lays the groundwork for future generations to write alternative histories.
Through the Digitization and Cataloguing of Archives and Collections and Provision of Online Access project, which it launched in 2021 with support from the Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul, the Foundation is preparing to make a selection from its Private Archives, Women’s Organizations and Organizing Initiatives, Women Writers, Women Artists, Visual Archive, Periodicals, Posters, Newspaper Clippings, and Oral History collections available online soon.
