The Salt Research Garanti BBVA Archive is Now Accessible Online
Salt Research Garanti BBVA Archive’s first section, comprising 10,000 records, is now accessible online. As part of the archival project that began in April 2023, over 36,000 physical materials, including posters, reports, commercials, periodicals, photographs, albums, slides, brochures, and various objects, have been cataloged in Turkish and English; the inventory work for approximately 255,000 digital records has been completed. The collection, spanning from 1946 to the present, opens up Garanti BBVA’s institutional memory for research in conjunction with Turkey’s economic, social, cultural, and technological transformation. Exhibition: We Have Been in Tomorrow for 80 Years
We Have Been in Tomorrow for 80 Years exhibition addresses the eighty-year history of Garanti BBVA, founded in 1946, in conjunction with Turkey's economic, social, cultural, and technological transformation. Based on a comprehensive archival project initiated by Salt in April 2023, the exhibition brings together records, visual materials, objects, and oral history interviews. The contents of the Garanti BBVA Archive can also be explored through data visualization and interactive digital experiences. Karl Werner Gullers’s Photographs of Istanbul Taken 79 Years Ago Added to the AA Visual Archive
Historic photographs of Istanbul taken in the late 1940s by Swedish photographer Karl Werner Gullers have been added to Anadolu Agency's visual archive. Documenting the city's daily life, streets, and urban fabric, the photographs have become part of Türkiye's visual memory 79 years later and are now available to researchers and the public. A total of 1,800 photographs and postcards from the Süheyl Ünver Collection at the Turkish Historical Society Archives, depicting cities across Anatolia and the Balkans as well as the Arab world, are now available online. The visual materials documenting the historical appearance of different cities can be explored by researchers and history enthusiasts through the digital catalog of the Turkish Historical Society Archives. The collection was made available as part of the Turkish Historical Society’s efforts to digitize its library and archival holdings and bring historical heritage to a wider audience.
